Program description

Claude over inReach is a conversational assistant reached by text message, operated by Tom for personal use. You send a question by SMS from a satellite messenger or mobile phone; the service replies with an answer.

Consent and opt-in

You consent by texting the service. Every conversation is initiated by you. The service never sends unsolicited messages and never initiates contact. There is no subscriber list to join.

Message frequency

Frequency varies and depends entirely on how often you message the service. You receive messages only in reply to your own. A single question may be answered across more than one message where the reply exceeds the SMS length limit.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Messages sent from a satellite device may also count against your Garmin inReach messaging plan. The service itself makes no charge.

Opt-out and help

Reply STOP to cancel at any time; you will receive a single confirmation and no further messages. Reply START to resume. Reply HELP for help, or contact tom@tomchuk.com.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Satellite delivery in particular may be delayed by terrain, weather, or sky visibility, and delivery is not guaranteed.

Automated responses

Replies are generated by an AI language model and may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. They are provided for general information only and are not professional medical, legal, navigational, or safety advice. Verify anything important before acting on it, and exercise your own judgement in the field.

Not an emergency service

This service must not be used to summon help. It offers no guaranteed delivery, no response time, and no human monitoring. In an emergency, use the SOS function on your satellite device, which reaches a 24/7 emergency response coordination centre.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service for unlawful purposes or to attempt to disrupt it. Access may be withdrawn at any time.

Liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the service.

Changes

These terms may be updated; revisions are published on this page with a revised date.
